sORRY I DON'T THINK I made my last post clear and it was deleted. My father was born in the states in 1952 to an american father and british mother. He came to the UK in 54/55. He still has a US passport. But he has never been back to the US. His father is a US citizen and so are his half brothers and sisters. I was curious to know if i would be entiltled to US citizenship as the daughter of an American citizen although he's not resident there. I'm over the age of 21 if that makes any difference.

Marie - if your son has a claim to U.S Citizenship, he must obtain a passport before traveling to the United States. All U.S. Citizens, regardless of age, must enter and exit the United States on their own U.S. passport. More information about registering the birth of your son and obtaining a passport for him is available from the Embassy website.

Sally - you may register the birth of your child at the U.S. Consulate in Edinburgh. More information is available from the Consulate website, here. You must register the birth of your child and apply for a passport for them if you wish to travel to the United States with your baby. Anyone with a claim to U.S. Citizenship must enter and exit the United States on a valid U.S. passport.

I am a US citizen living in France, I have had two daughters with a UK citizen. The first daughter was born out of wedlock, the second while we were married.
I am in the process of getting divorced and my ex refuses to allow me to take the children abroad and enforces this by holding their British passports and refusing to give them to me.
I have pursued this through the courts and have so far gotten nowhere.
Are the children entitled to US passports through me? I hold a US passport through my birth in Chicago. I currently reside in France to be near the children, however, my girlfriend is an American citizen living in New York and I would like to start taking them to the states.

My husband and I are about to have a baby (due this week). I am a British citizen and he is a US citizen. We would like for our child to have dual citizenship (and passports). We live in Scotland - do we have to visit the US embassy in London after the baby is born to arrange US citizenship, or is it possible to organise in Scotland? Or could we possibly apply when we are in the US in WA state in December?

Thanks,
