Children with no claim to U.S. Citizenship

If you are not eligible to transmit citizenship to your child, it may be possible for him or her to apply for either expeditious naturalization, if an American citizen grandparent has enough physical presence time in the United States, or an immigrant visa, which may qualify the child for U.S. citizenship upon entry to the U.S.

If you are not eligible to transmit citizenship to your child, and s/he cannot qualify for naturalization as described above, s/he may require a tourist visa to travel to the United States for a temporary, nonworking visit, or an immigrant visa if s/he wishes to take up residence.
