Additional Administrative Processing

Visa applicants, regardless of sex, who are aged 16 and are born in, or hold a passport from any of the following countries are required to complete a supplemental nonimmigrant visa application, Form DS-157. They are also required to apply for a visa in person before a consular officer.

North Korea, Cuba, Syria, Sudan, Iran, & Libya

It is important to note that visa applications are subject to a greater degree of scrutiny than in the past which means that in some instances visa applications are taking longer to process to conclusion than has been customary. You will be advised at the time of the interview if your application requires additional processing and should allow at least 60 days for this stage of the application to be completed.

Please note: Delays in processing can and will occur. The processing times quoted are approximate and cannot be guaranteed. It is important that you keep this in mind when applying for the visa. I regret that it will not be possible to expedite a case simply because an applicant has not allowed sufficient time for the application to be processed.
