Fisher-Price Toys Recalled Due To Lead Poisoning Hazard
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC, http://www.cpsc.gov), in coordination with Mattel, Inc., announced a voluntary recall of approximately 967,000 Fisher-Price toys sold throughout the United States from May to August 2007. Mattel is recalling another 533,000 toys from other countries, including the United Kingdom, Canada, and Mexico.
Surface paints on the toys could contain excessive levels of lead, which is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health affects. The CPSC advised that children should stop using the recalled toys immediately.
The recalled toys were manufactured in China between April 19, 2007, and July 6, 2007, and may have a date code between 109-7LF and 187-7LF marked on the product or packaging.
