Warden Message
23 December 2005 Warden Message U.S. Embassy London
The U.S. Embassy in London wishes all of our fellow Americans and friends a safe and joyous holiday season.
To help stay safe, we remind Americans of the Worldwide Caution disseminated by the Department of State on December 12 and available online at http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw/pa/pa_1161.html.
U.S. citizens are strongly encouraged to maintain a high level of vigilance, be aware of local events, and take the appropriate steps to bolster their personal security. For additional information, please refer to “A Safe Trip Abroad” found at http://travel.state.gov/travel/tips/safety/safety_1747.html.
Americans are reminded of the potential for terrorists to attack public transportation systems. In addition, extremists may also select aviation and maritime services as possible targets.
During the holiday period, the U.S. Embassy in London will close at 2:30pm on Friday December 23, and will be closed on Monday, December 26, Tuesday, December 27 and Monday, January 2. Many other local offices will also be closed on these dates. As always, in the case of a life or death emergency involving a United States citizen, call 020-7499-9000. A Consular Duty Officer is available 24 hours a day.
