The U.S. Embassy in London hosted a viewing of President Barack Obama's address from Cairo to the Muslim world, entitled "A New Beginning.". The speech, which lasted just under one hour, was followed by an audience question and answer session with Senior Advisor for Regional Media Dan Sreebny and Cultural Attaché Liza Davis.
The audience of nearly 100 guests included UK-based journalists, Muslim-focused community organizations, and graduate-level students from several London universities. Some guests travelled from as far away as Bradford and Birmingham for the event. Guests made particular note of the hope brought about by the speech, indicating the importance of the solid partnerships discussed by President Obama. One London viewer emphasized the necessity of a cooperative relationship, saying, "It's time that we all chip in."

Many guests were inspired by the President's commitment to ensuring dignity and human rights in the Muslim world, particularly for women. "We should choose the right path, not just the easy one," noted the President. A guest from the International Forum for Islamic Dialogue noted that Muslims are pleased to hear a positive message from the United States on relations with the Islamic world, and that the President's actions will be critical to success with Muslim peoples.
