16 July 2006 Summit To Focus on Role of Private Enterprise in Africa's Growth A summit focusing on the role that private enterprise can play and is playing to enhance Africa's long-term economic growth and development is expected to attract dignitaries from more than 30 countries -- including roughly 15 heads of state from Africa, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean -- as well as Africanists and Africans from all parts of the Diaspora.
15 July 2006 Energy Security, Middle East Expected to Top G-8 Agenda The summit of the Group of Eight leading industrialized countries convenes July 15 at the Konstantinovski Palace in Strelnya, 15 kilometers southwest of St. Petersburg, before concluding July 17. The summit’s agenda, which has been set by its Russian hosts, will focus on international energy security, efforts to combat infectious diseases, and education. Other G8 members have also expressed an interest in discussing trade, security, counterterrorism, nonproliferation, African development, and intellectual property rights.
