In London, Secretary Clinton will attend a ministerial
meeting on Yemen on January 27 and the International Conference on Afghanistan
on January 28. The goal of the Yemen meeting is to consolidate international support
for Yemen, coordinate assistance efforts, and reach agreement on assisting Yemen
in its political and economic reform efforts. The objective of the London Conference
on Afghanistan is to demonstrate the international community’s support for Afghanistan’s future and
the agenda outlined by President Karzai in his November 19 inauguration speech.
The meetings will focus on the implementation of our strategy in support of Afghanistan’s
security, governance and development, and improved international civilian coordination.
The Secretary will end her trip in Paris, where she will give a speech on European
security, in addition to meeting with President Sarkozy and Foreign Minister Kouchner
to discuss the international Haiti relief effort, developments in Iran, Yemen,
Afghanistan and Pakistan, and an array of other issues of mutual concern.

This is due to the New Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) which recognizes only current and not post-dated passports. While ESTA can accommodate last-minute applications, honeymooners may want to consider obtaining a new passport in their married name after their trip.

The goal is to have 100 percent of all eligible UK travelers signed on by January 12 - just one month from now - when ESTA registration in advance of travel becomes mandatory.

30 April 2007 Podcast on the Jamestown exhibition at the Museum in Docklands. In an informative podcast Hazel Forsyth of the Museum of London talks about the way in which children found in the streets of London were chosen to go to work on the plantations in Virginia. She describes their subsequent voyage to the New World and highlights some of the artifacts associated with them. She also discusses the Virginia Company's scheme to attract the right sort of women to Jamestown and explains how colonists paid for their new wives.
During the podcast Ms Forsyth outlines the co-operation between museums in Britain and the U.S. on the occasion of the 400th Anniversary and concludes by stressing the historical significance of the settlement of Jamestown and role of the Museum's exhibition in highlighting that significance.
