The United States entered its first Olympic team in 1896

The summer Olympic Games take place every four years. 2008 is one of those Olympic years!

This Summer's Olympics will take place in Beijing, in China. The U.S. Olympic team travelling to Beijing this summer will compete in lots of different sports including cycling, baseball, basketball, soccer and tennis.

America has hosted the Summer Olympics and the Winter Olympics four times each.

American Eddie Eagan became the only person in history to win gold medals in both the Summer and Winter Olympics

Liechtenstein became the smallest country to produce an Olympic champion

George W. Bush was the first American president to open a Winter Olympics in the United States
