Catherine Witherspoon is currently a consultant on climate change and environmental governance issues. Previously, she was the Executive Officer of the California Air Resources Board (CARB), where she managed a staff of 1,000 and an annual budget of $350M.

Coleman Barks [author's website] was born and raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and was educated at the University of North Carolina and the University of California at Berkeley. He taught poetry and creative writing at the University of Georgia for thirty years. He is the author of numerous Rumi translations and has been a student of Sufism since 1977.

Dickens in Camp, by Bret Harte: A Poetic Tribute to Charles Dickens
Bret Harte was born in Albany, New York in 1836 and died in Camberley, England in 1902.
He was an author of novels, short stories and verse.
Between 1878-1885 he was U.S. Consul first at Crefeld in Germany and later he was transferred to Glasgow in Scotland in 1880. With a change of administration in 1885 his consulship was ended.
The writings of Charles Dickens were a favorite and an influence throughout his life. On hearing of the death of Charles Dickens (on 9th June 1870), Bret Harte wrote a Poetic Tribute to Charles Dickens, which you can hear as a podcast read by the Cultural Affairs Officer Michael Macy.

Journey to the New World
Hazel Forsyth, Senior Curator at the Museum of London, responsible for the Museum in Docklands exhibition, “Journey to the New World: London 1606 to Virginia 1607,” gives three podcasts.

The first one on the people who left London for Jamestown, their experiences on the journey, the artefacts found, what happened to them when they arrived in Virginia and co-operation with other museums in the U.S.
