Message From Ambassador William S. Farish

September 11 Commemoration In Grosvenor Square

Last year, Grosvenor Square in London became the focal point for thousands of well-wishers following the September 11 terrorist attacks in America. This year, we will return to Grosvenor Square on September 11 to commemorate the first anniversary of those attacks. I hope you will join us.

At 10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 11, we will conduct a brief commemorative ceremony in the Square, to pay tribute to the victims and to express our gratitude to the British people and government for their continued support and sympathy. Since there will necessarily be security measures for this event, you should plan to arrive at the Square by 8:30 a.m. Those planning to attend should avoid coming with large bags, packs, or any items that may slow down the screening procedures.

If you are unable to attend the ceremony, I invite you to come to the Square between 8:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. on September 11 to view a special showing of photographer Joel Meyerowitz's dramatic and moving exhibit, "After September 11: Images from Ground Zero."

I do hope you can be part of our commemoration, but if you cannot, let me take this occasion to once again thank you for your support.

Sincerely,

William S. Farish
Ambassador
