14 March 2007 Ambassador Opens “A New World”
Ambassador Tuttle opened the British Museum's new exhibit, “A New World: England's first view of America,” on March 14. The exhibit contains watercolors by John White during the 1585-86 expeditions to Roanoke (now in North Carolina). At the event, Ambassador Tuttle said, “This year marks the 400th anniversary of the founding of the Jamestown colony. And, while these watercolors by John White are from an earlier time, this year is the perfect opportunity to remember the shared history between our two countries.”
For more information on the exhibit please visit the British Museum's website.
