09 September 2005 Colleen P. Graffy Named Deputy Assistant Secretary for Public Diplomacy, Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs
Colleen P. Graffy has been named as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Public Diplomacy in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs.
Ms. Graffy is the first Deputy Assistant Secretary for Public Diplomacy in a State Department geographical bureau. In her position, she will oversee public diplomacy efforts across the 55 countries that make up the Bureau in coordination with Assistant Secretary for Europe and Eurasia Daniel Fried and Under Secretary for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs Karen Hughes.
Though originally from Santa Barbara, California, Ms. Graffy resided in London for most of the past two decades. After studying law at the City of London University and Kings College, University of London, she served as academic director of Pepperdine University’s London Program and an associate professor of law, teaching international public law, environmental law and international criminal law.
Ms. Graffy has written on legal issues in the United States and Britain and was a frequent commentator on transatlantic matters for radio and television outlets in the United Kingdom.
