Embassy Statement

A small explosion, caused by a minor electrical fault near an entrance to the U.S. Embassy, began to produce smoke and flame around noon today. We treated the incident as suspicious until we were able to determine that it was not a threat to our employees and visitors or to the neighborhood. Embassy activities returned to normal about 30 minutes later.

We wish to underscore our appreciation to London’s first responders for their quick reaction and superb support.
