  1. Annette – your son cannot transmit citizenship to you or to his step-relatives. When your son reaches the age of 21, he may be eligible to file a petition for you as the parent of a U.S. Citizen.

if you wish to immigrate to the United States, more information about the different categories of visas available can be found on the Embassy website, here.

  2. Hi i was married to an american and lived in the USA.. Before I returned to the UK I was issued with a temporary green card..I divorced my husband 22 years ago and never returned to the USA.
I have remarried and want to take my son to Florida for a holiday.
asIi was only on a temporary green card I cant surrender it on line and have misplaced the card as it was so long ago. Would have anY problems when returning for a 2 week holiday.
    Regards Yvonne

  3. Yvonne – Before traveling to the United States on holiday, you will be required to officially abandon your green card by filing the Form I-407. Full details are available from the Embassy website, at: http://london.usembassy.gov/dhs/uscis/abandon.html

NOTE: If you don’t have your permanent resident card (lost/stolen/misplaced), please explain in 6(b) on the Form I-407.
