Just watched the video. What happens if my visa application is refused?

If you are found ineligible for a visa under U.S. visa law, your passport will be returned to you together with a written explanation of why you did not qualify for the visa. Your passport will also be returned to you at the interview if your application is subject to additional processing, as your application could take 90 days or more to process. Once processing has been completed, the Nonimmigrant Visa Unit will contact you. If you are qualified for a visa, you will be required to submit your passport through the courier company and should allow between 10 – 15 workdays for your application to be processed.

I have had a non immigrant visa (B2) issued to me every year over the last 3 years due to a criminal conviction 15 years ago.. Each time I was contacted by the embassy in London, 2-3 weeks after my interview. This year I attended for an interview on May 14th and I still have not had an e-mail stating that my Visa is ready for issue (as of today, 16th June). I travel to America on the 9th August of this year and although I am not panicking yet, I am just wondering why its taking longer. I thought that with the new online registration form it might actually have speeded things up.
Neil – processing varies in each individual case and there is no set period of time that it takes. Please be assured that you will be contacted as soon as processing in your case has been completed.
I had an interview on the 9th April due to a conviction nearly 30 years ago. I have had four visas since 1996 with no problems. It is now July 14th and still no letter, email or phonecall stating visa ready for issue and I am travelling on 11th August. It would be nice to have an idea if its been processed as its been 13 weeks and I am now panicking that my holiday will be ruined. It would be nice for an update and a contact number to have someone to talk to. My 10 year old daughter is crying every day as I can not reassure her.
Steven – if you are concerned about the status of your visa, you may wish to contact the Embassy’s Operator Service on 09042 450 100 (£1.20/min) for assistance.
I still have not received any feedback from the embassy in regards my visa (B2), after my interview back on 14th May. I have tried contacting the operator assisted information line but have got no further taking this route. I was told to check on the administrative processing section and did this for a while, but after ringing again, I was then told not to check on there as this did not apply to me because I was applying due to a previous conviction (15 years ago). I notice from other postings that several people are also experiencing delays. I am now just under 3 weeks from my travel date and am getting seriously worried. Is there no way for the date of travel to be taken into consideration? As this will be my 4th trip in 4 years to exactly the same place, I really can not see why the issuance of my visa is taking so long, as my circumstances have not changed. As with the previous correspondance, my son is also now starting to get upset about the possibilty of missing his holiday. If there is any way that anyone can fast track my visa, I would be so greatful.

I left a comment on here last night, it seems to have disappeared? Is somebody dealing with my comment? Should I expect a response? Thank you

david – As processing varies with each individual application, there is no set period of time that it takes. Times quoted should be used only as a guide. we strive to offer all applicants as expeditious a service as possible, however, we regret that we are unable to guarantee that a visa will be issued by a specific date.
Hi there, I tried to go to America on the waiver free program 2 years ago, I was rejected because I had applied for and was rejected a 6 month visa making me illegible for the weiver free. Back then I had no job no car and can understand why I was rejected. Now I want to go out there again and read somewhere that iff applying for a visitors visa (for 2 weeks) I would need to provide a certain form that I was given when rejected. I cant figure out what I should bring to the us embasy when applying for the visa , My situation is alot better now, Im in full time employment and have a car + living with my family. Any help for applying would be grand
Ashley – if you wish to reapply for a visa, you will need to know what section of law your previous application was refused under. At the time of your previous application, you would have been informed of this in a letter, handed to you at the time of your refusal. If you have misplaced that letter, you should contact the Embassy’s Operator service on 09042 450 100 (£1.20/min) for assistance.
