I came to the United Kingdom for a short holiday, but ended staying here for longer than 12 months. I have a green card. Do I need anything else to return home to the United States?

If you have been outside the United States longer than 12 months or two years if holding a Re-entry Permit, you will require a new immigrant visa in order to return to the United States.  I suggest that you visit the Embassy website for information on the options available to you.

I have recently traveled to the United Kingdom and while here, my green card has been stolen/expired. What can I do?

I have a US immigrant visa (green card) but have been back in the UK for nearly six months now. A friend tells me that I have stayed outside of the US for too long and may not be allowed back in. Is this true? And how long am I allowed to remain outside of the US for, if I have a green card?
